Therese Lautua is a College Fellow in Indigenous Religions at the Committee on the Study of Religion, Harvard Divinity School, Harvard University. As an early-career theologian, she focuses on the intersection of spirituality, culture, and Christian faith within Pacific Islander communities' wellbeing frameworks.
Her research examines Indigenous Religions through decolonial lenses, emphasizing how cultural identity and Christian spiritual practices co-constitute holistic wellbeing for Pacific peoples. Drawing from her Samoan, Irish, and Swiss heritage rooted in South Auckland, Aotearoa (New Zealand), she explores theological frameworks that center māmā (motherhood) and communal resilience. Key research domains include Indigenous Religions, Theology, Pacific Islander Studies, Christian Spirituality, Cultural Studies, and Religious Wellbeing.
