Theresa Simpkin is an Associate Professor of Management and the MBA Director at the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics, University of Tasmania. She has held significant academic and leadership roles internationally, including at the University of Nottingham and Anglia Ruskin University in the UK, where she developed global MBA programs and led departments in leadership and management.
She holds a PhD in Theorising Occupational Decision Making from the University of Tasmania, a PGCert in Higher Education from Anglia Ruskin University, and undergraduate degrees in Business and Commerce from the University of Tasmania. She is a Churchill Fellow and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Her research and professional interests focus on leadership, diversity and inclusion, the impostor phenomenon, and workforce challenges in STEM and digital infrastructure sectors. She investigates how workplace culture influences psychological health, productivity, and inclusion, with a particular emphasis on gender disparities and emerging leadership paradigms in the fourth industrial age.
Her recent publications explore the intersection of toxic work environments and the impostor phenomenon, the normalization of abuse in organizations, and the complexities of diversity discourse in tech. These works highlight trends in organizational psychology, gender studies, and ethical management, emphasizing systemic change over individual blame.

Theresa Simpkin advises governments and industry on skills, labor, and training strategies. She is a member of the global advisory committee for the Data Centre Sector on skills, education, and inclusion. She has also delivered impactful public lectures, including on leadership and diversity in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels, reflecting her unique interdisciplinary engagement.
