Theresa Rothe

Prof. Theresa Rothe holds the Professorship for Fine Arts (Sculpture) at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg since 2025. She is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dresden and Leipzig, combining sculpture, installation, and performance art to explore themes like the unconscious, material curiosity, and bodily expression. Her work interrogates everyday phenomena, animal observations, and voyeurism through symbolic and surreal imagery. Rothe has exhibited internationally, including at the Kunstmuseum Heidesheim and the Gunzenhauser Museum, and received awards such as the Sächsischen Landesstipendium. She previously held a teaching appointment at the academy from 2024–2025 and co-founded the socio-cultural space Klub Portitz in Leipzig in 2024.

• Studied under Prof. Wilhelm Mundt (2013–2022)

Research Focus: Blending sculptural, performative, and textual elements to create immersive environments that challenge binaries like reality/fantasy and interior/exterior. Collaborations include performance groups M.OVER Company and Performance|Rooms|Art.
