Theresa Alexander

Dr. Theresa Alexander is an Associate Professor in Fashion Management at University of the Incarnate Word. A professionally trained fashion embroiderer and expert-level patternmaker, she teaches courses in advanced design, patternmaking, and couture embroidery. Her research focuses on the history of couture embroidery and beading.

Education includes a PhD in Higher Education (UIW), MA in Fashion and Textiles (Nottingham Trent University), and BS in Fashion Design (Texas Tech University). She completed professional training at Lesage École de Broderie d'Art in Paris. Dr. Alexander received special recognition in the 2009 Hand and Lock Prize for Embroidery and has created pieces for HBO productions and Broadway shows.
