Theodore Abraham

Theodore Abraham, MD is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he directs the Echocardiography Laboratory and co-directs the UCSF HCM Center of Excellence. His clinical expertise includes echocardiography, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), and advanced cardiac imaging in athletes. He has held leadership roles in medical education and professional organizations, including contributions to ASE guidelines.

Research focuses on early HCM diagnosis, risk stratification, and evaluating strain echocardiography for cardiomyopathies. He has led major clinical trials for HCM therapies (e.g., mavacamten, aficamten) and published extensively in JACC, Circulation, and Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.

Over 200 peer-reviewed articles address HCM genetics, imaging innovations, and outcomes in cardiac conditions. Awards include contributions to cardiovascular imaging and clinical care advancements.
