Theo van den Broek is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Translational Immunology (CTI), Utrecht University. A physician-scientist trained in medical microbiology and immunology, he leads an independent research group investigating T/B cell interactions. He holds a PhD from Utrecht University (2015) and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School through a Marie Curie Global Fellowship.
His research bridges fundamental immunology and clinical applications, focusing on:
- Dynamic interactions between T and B cells in lymphoid tissues
- Pediatric immune system development
- Loss of immune tolerance in autoimmune diseases
- Translational approaches for infectious disease management
Publications primarily explore germinal center biology, B cell clonality, and autoimmune mechanisms, with recent work extending to metabolic genetics and science education policy. His immunological studies consistently employ human tissue models and advanced genomic techniques.
Awarded significant honors including:
- Marie Curie Global Fellowship for autoimmune research
- VENI Fellowship for pediatric immunology investigations
Leads the research group 'T:B cell interactions in human lymph nodes' aiming to transform clinical immunology through lymph node studies.
