معرفی
Theo Jourdan is a Post-doctoral researcher at ISIR (Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics), Sorbonne Université in Paris. He works under the supervision of Baptiste Caramiaux in the ACID/ACIDE research team, focusing on the intersection of machine learning, interaction design, and music technology.
His educational background includes:
- PhD in Biotechnology from Institut National Sciences Appliquées (INSA) Lyon, completed with Carole Frindel and Antoine Boutet, focusing on privacy machine learning for healthcare
Jourdan's research takes a critical perspective on machine learning technology, particularly examining how these systems are situated within human musical practices. His work emphasizes the socio-cultural aspects of musical expression and aims to develop more inclusive approaches to technology design. He also focuses on designing Accessible Digital Musical Instruments (ADMIs) for and with people with disabilities, considering the broader ecosystem in which these instruments exist.
His publication record shows a clear evolution from healthcare privacy applications to music technology applications of machine learning. While his early work focused on privacy-preserving techniques for healthcare monitoring, his current research examines machine learning's role in musical expression, with particular attention to cultural and political dimensions of these technologies as evidenced by his recent publications at the New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME) conference.
Based in Paris at Sorbonne Université's ISIR laboratory, Jourdan contributes to the Human-Computer Interaction research community through his interdisciplinary approach that bridges technical innovation with social and cultural awareness, working within the ACID/ACIDE team to advance both the technical and human aspects of interactive systems.
