Associate Professor Thea Voogt is an academic at the University of Queensland's TC Beirne School of Law, specializing in income tax law, agricultural tax policy, and corporate governance. She holds a Doctorate in Financial Management and a Master's in International Commercial Law. Her research focuses on climate change impacts on farming families, drought policy tools, and small business structures. She has been recognized with multiple teaching awards, including the UQ Faculty Teaching Award (2017) and the 'Inspired me to learn' Award.
Dr. Voogt's career includes roles as CEO of University of Johannesburg's superannuation funds and Professor of Accounting. She has contributed to over 40 publications, including journal articles and conference presentations on tax policy, farm resilience, and corporate governance. Her recent work examines income stabilisation mechanisms and environmental sustainability in agriculture.
Awards include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and grants for projects like 'Small Australian Firm Business Structures.' She collaborates with organizations such as the Rural Financial Counselling Service North Queensland (RFCSNQ) and the Remote Area Planning and Development Board (RAPAD).
