Thanh Le is an Associate Professor at the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance within the School of Business at the University of Wollongong. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Australian National University (ANU). Prior to his current role, he has held positions at Flinders University, the University of Queensland, and the Cournot Centre for Economic Studies (France). His research focuses on economic growth, technological change, productivity, knowledge spillovers, political economy, and international trade. He has consulted for organizations such as KPMG, UNESCAP, and UNDP on socio-economic policy. He has secured research grants from the French Ministry of Higher Education, UNDP, and the Australian Davos Connection Forum, among others.
Le has held visiting positions at the Toulouse School of Economics (France), Baylor University (USA), and the Institute for European Studies (Vietnam). He currently supervises research on topics including intrusion detection systems, the impact of globalization on environmental quality, and the Belt and Road Initiative's effects on logistics and trade. His funding projects include using Natural Language Processing to measure economic uncertainty in Australia. His work bridges theoretical economic models with practical policy applications, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to complex socio-economic challenges.
Le has contributed to over 80 publications, with recent work examining environmental efficiency in Africa, labor market dynamics in Vietnam, and the implications of automation on human capital. His awards include grants from the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Vietnam) and Endeavour Fellowships. He actively engages in academic leadership roles, including his past position as Vice President of the International Society of Vietnam Economists.
