Tessa Godfrey is a Lecturer and Programme Leader for the MA Social Work course at the University of Greenwich's School of Human Sciences, part of the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences. With over three decades of social work experience, she specializes in integrating practice and research to enhance social work education and child/family services.
Her career includes roles across statutory and voluntary sectors, including leadership positions at Action for Children and Frontline. Her research focuses on action research methodologies, particularly using student voices to improve MA programme design. Tessa holds a doctorate examining social work education through action research.
Key areas of expertise include systemic approaches, trauma-informed parenting, and motivational interviewing. She has extensive experience in child protection and community social work, with a commitment to improving frontline practice through evidence-based strategies.
