Professor Terrence Fernando is Director of THINKlab at the University of Salford, specializing in multi-disciplinary research involving distributed virtual engineering, urban simulation, and collaborative workspaces. His research focuses on collaborative virtual environments, smart cities, and multi-agency collaboration platforms. Fernando has led major EU projects including CoSpaces, VisionAir, Design4Energy, PROSECO and CROSS DRIVE, and currently directs an EPSRC project developing a collaborative platform for disaster resilience. His commercial work includes creating technology platforms for Network Rail, Arup, Siemens and city councils.
Fernando holds a PhD in Computer Science from UMIST, an MSc in Microprocessor Engineering and Digital Electronics, and a BSc (First Class Hons) in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. He organizes national conferences on Smart Cities, Smart Homes, IoT and Big Data.
