Teri W. Odom is the Joan Husting Madden and William H. Madden, Jr. Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University, with affiliations in the International Institute for Nanotechnology (IIN), Chemistry of Life Processes Institute (CLP), and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. She holds a B.S. from Stanford University (1996) and a Ph.D. from Harvard University (2001), followed by a NIH postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard (2002). Her research focuses on designing nanoscale materials with tailored architectures to achieve exceptional optical, electronic, and biomedical properties. Key areas include plasmonic nanoparticle lattices for lasing, nanostructured materials for energy and bioimaging, and ligand-engineered nanoconstructs for targeted drug delivery.
Recent work emphasizes symmetry-driven lasing from moiré nanoparticle arrays, electrochemical control of exciton-polaritons, and the impact of nanoparticle anisotropy on cell membrane interactions. Odom has pioneered scalable fabrication methods for hierarchical nanostructures and explored applications in nanomedicine, optoelectronics, and sensing. Her labs are equipped with advanced nanofabrication, spectroscopy, and computational modeling tools.
