Terese Blakeslee

Terese (Terri) Blakeslee is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and serves as Assistant Director of the BSN@Home program. A Registered Nurse and certified School Nurse, she earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2020, building on earlier degrees from the University of Phoenix (MSN) and UW Oshkosh (BSN).

Research & Scholarship: Dr. Blakeslee’s work sits at the intersection of nursing education and adolescent public-health, with particular emphasis on bullying prevention, school nursing practice, and suicide-risk mitigation. She employs quantitative secondary analyses of youth-risk-behavior surveillance data and qualitative explorations of DNP alumni experiences to inform curricular innovation and policy.

Recent Publication Trends: Her 2021-2024 outputs cluster into two domains—(1) evaluation of DNP program components such as preceptor impact and concurrent-enrollment transfer pathways, and (2) epidemiological examinations of bullying, violence, and suicide risk among U.S. high-school students, consistently recommending expanded school-nurse roles.

Grants & Funding: She is Project Lead on a $75k sub-award of the U.S. Department of Labor “Nursing. Equity. eXpansion. Training (NEXT)” grant (2023-2028) aimed at expanding nursing career pathways, and has secured internal Sigma Theta Tau research funding.

Professional Presentations: Blakeslee has disseminated findings through numerous local, state, regional and international forums, including invited lectures on her PhD journey and peer-mentored writing communities, as well as refereed posters at the Midwest and International Nursing Research Societies.
