Teresa Petrik is an assoc. PhD student in History at the University of Vienna and a Research associate (prae-doc) in the FWF-funded project 'The Emergence of the In/valids in the Habsburg Monarchy' at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien). Her institutional affiliations span both universities with active roles in historical research and teaching.
Her academic journey includes:
- PhD candidate in History, University of Vienna (2025–present)
- MA in History, University of Vienna & Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2020–2024)
- BA in Sociology and Political Science, University of Vienna (2015–2019)
Specializing in early modern Habsburg social history, Petrik examines labor systems, poverty governance, and penal institutions through the lens of military marginality. Her doctoral work analyzes how invalids, soldiers' widows, and itinerant laborers navigated welfare systems between 1680–1790, revealing institutional responses to post-conflict social vulnerability. This research bridges military, social, and welfare history through innovative analysis of archival records from Habsburg military and poor relief administrations.
Her project portfolio demonstrates sustained engagement with major research initiatives:
- FWF-funded study on 'The Emergence of the In/valids' (2024–present)
- COST Action 'WORCK' on global labor coercion systems (2020–2024)
- 'Pathways to the future' youth integration study (2018–2020)
