Sigrid Wadauer is a Professor and Senior Scientist in the Department of Economic and Social History at the University of Vienna. She holds a Mag. phil. (1994), Dr. phil. (2001), and Habilitation (2015) from the University of Vienna. Her research focuses on work, mobility, bureaucracy, and social policy in historical contexts, particularly in Habsburg Austria and interwar Europe.

Research Interests: Work and livelihood practices, migration and mobility, state bureaucracy, historical identity documentation, social policy, and criminality in 19th- and 20th-century Austria.

- Current FWF Project (2024–2027): Categorizing, Registering, and Reporting Mobility and Stay in Habsburg/Austria.
- Prior FWF Projects: Co-Producing Identity Documents (2019–2024) and The Production of Work (ERC-START Grant).

- Michael Mitterauer-Preis (2002) for doctoral thesis.
Teaching & Supervision: Professor since 2000 (Vienna and Salzburg). Supervised PhDs on topics like labour intermediation, social welfare, and mobility. Active in ERC and FWF-funded research teams.
Labs/Teams: Principal investigator in multiple FWF and ERC projects. Member of the Young Academy of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (2008–2015).
