Teresa Dunn is an Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing at Michigan State University’s Department of Art, Art History, and Design. Her work explores themes of identity, cultural heritage, and the experiences of brown women in the Midwest. She is affiliated with Galerie l’Échaudé in Paris and has exhibited widely in solo and group shows across the U.S. and Europe.

Her research focuses on the intersection of personal narrative and societal representation, reflected in her award-winning exhibitions and publications. Dunn has received notable recognition, including the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Fellowship (three times) and the Jacob K. Javits Fellowship.
Recent exhibitions include solo shows at Central Michigan University (2024), Buckham Gallery (2023), and The Dennos Museum (2023), alongside group exhibitions at the National Arts Club (New York, 2023) and The Painting Center (New York, 2022). Her work is included in major collections such as the Zillman Art Museum and the Kinsey Institute.

Dunn has conducted artist lectures at institutions like the University of Washington Seattle and the Rome Art Program. Her teaching spans over 18 years at MSU, supported by grants and residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and Cuttyhunk Island.
Her creative practice extends to publications, including contributions to An Artist and a Mother (Demeter Press, 2023) and More Disruption: Representation in Flux (Schiffer Publishing, 2023).
