Teppo Kröger is a Professor of Social and Public Policy at the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of Jyväskylä, and Director of the Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and Care (CoE AgeCare). His work spans local, comparative, and global perspectives on care policy.

Research interests include social care for older people, integration of formal/informal care, care work conditions, and work-care reconciliation. He has developed conceptual frameworks like welfare municipality, care poverty, and weak universalism, bridging social policy, gerontology, and disability studies.
Scientific awards include the 2024 Nordic Prize in Gerontology (Sohlberg Prize), the 2021 UNO of the Year – All-rounder of Science, and the 2019 Science Communication Act of the Year from the University of Jyväskylä.
Doctoral supervision covers social policies on ageing, care, and disability. Current students include Mari Aholainen, Tuulikki Alanko, and Youngbin Kwon. Former students have won top Finnish academic awards, including the Best PhD Thesis at Jyväskylä (2014) and Best Master Thesis in Finland (2020).
