Ted Striphas

Ted Striphas serves as Department Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Media Studies at the University of Colorado's College of Media, Communication and Information, where his academic focus examines the relationship between language, technology, and daily life.

Education:

• Bachelor's in Communication from the University of New Hampshire
• Master's in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
• Doctorate in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

His research spans Cultural Studies, Communication, Digital Humanities, and Science and Technology Studies, with concentrated analysis of how computational tools transform cultural practices. Current work includes the book project Algorithmic Culture, extending his award-winning scholarship from The Late Age of Print (2009) which investigated technology's impact on social and linguistic change.

Scientific Awards:

As co-editor of Cultural Studies journal and contributor to major media outlets including The New York Times and The Washington Post, Striphas bridges academic research with public discourse. His scholarly publications appear in leading journals such as Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies, New Media and Society, and European Journal of Cultural Studies, with translations in Korean and German expanding his international impact.
