Te-Hsing Shan is a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Institute of European and American Studies, Academia Sinica, the foremost academic institution in Taiwan. He has held this position since 2010 and previously served as Research Fellow, Associate Research Fellow, and Assistant Research Fellow at the same institute since 1983.
- Education: Ph.D. in Comparative Literature (National Taiwan University, 1986), M.A. in English (1980), B.A. in English (National Chengchi University, 1976).
His research interests span English and American Literature, Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, and Translation Studies. His work emphasizes cross-cultural dialogues, Cold War-era literary politics, and the intersection of cultural identity and diasporic narratives.
His recent publications explore the cultural and historical contexts of literary production, including the Cold War, Asian American literature, and translation practices. He has edited seminal works on Edward W. Said’s theories and global literary exchanges.
