Tayyab Safdar is an Assistant Professor of Global Studies & Engagements and Director of the Global Security & Justice Track at the University of Virginia. He holds an MPhil and PhD in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on South-South Development Cooperation, particularly Chinese investment in Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries like Pakistan, analyzing the political and economic dynamics of infrastructure projects such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He has published in journals including Journal of Contemporary Asia and provided expert testimony to the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission.
