Taya Forde is a Senior Lecturer in Infectious Disease Ecology at the University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on molecular epidemiology and bacterial genomics, with an emphasis on pathogens like Bacillus anthracis, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, and Streptococcus agalactiae. She leads the One Health Research on Bacterial Infectious Diseases (OHRBID) Lab, integrating genomic tools into interdisciplinary studies to address global health challenges such as antimicrobial resistance and wildlife health monitoring.
Her work spans field sampling, microbiology, bioinformatics, and phylogenetics, emphasizing knowledge exchange and stakeholder collaboration. Notable grants include UK Research and Innovation funding for antimicrobial resistance research in Thailand (2025–2028) and a Natural Environment Research Council grant for studying zoonotic pathogens in wildlife (2022–2025).
Teaching responsibilities include leading the Genetics & Genomics of Antimicrobial Resistance course for the EIDAR MSc program and contributing to veterinary biosciences education at the University of Glasgow.
