Tatjana Tchumatchenko

Prof. Tatjana Tchumatchenko is Professor and TRA Steering Committee member at the University of Bonn, leading a computational neuroscience group at the Institute of Experimental Epileptology and Cognition Research. Her research focuses on computational analysis of recurrent neural networks and molecular dynamics of synapses.

Research examines how molecular dynamics in dendrites organize synaptic plasticity outcomes, and how synaptic learning rules help neural networks solve computational tasks. The group develops quantitative methods to understand neural data and predictive models of neural network function across molecular, synaptic, and network levels.

Honors include the Boehringer Ingelheim FENS Research Award (2022), ERC Starting Grant (2020), Heinz Maier-Leibnitz-Prize (2016), and election to the Young Academy of Europe. Current projects investigate dendritic protein distribution, energy constraints in neurons, and astrocyte contributions to learning.
