معرفی
Dr. Tatiana Miranda is a Researcher and SEM Lab Manager at the Senckenberg Centre for Human Evolution and Palaeoenvironment (HEP) at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. She holds dual affiliations with the University of Tübingen and Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung. Her work focuses on desert plant adaptations, biomimetic engineering, and plant surface morphology. She completed a PhD in Geosciences (2013) and Master’s in Biology (2005) from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), Brazil, followed by postdoctoral research in collaborative art-design projects.
Key research interests include fog-harvesting mechanisms in Namib Desert flora, xylem physiology of lianas, and epiphyte microclimate interactions. Her lab manages advanced SEM facilities for surface analysis. Notable contributions include the 2011 Techtextil Innovation Prize for developing fog-filtering materials inspired by Namib grasses. Current projects include Atacama Desert expeditions studying fog-dependent ecosystems and BMBF-funded biomimetic packaging research.
- Education: PhD Geosciences (Tübingen, 2013), MSc Biology (PUCRS, 2005)
- Grants: BMBF 3D Bio Filter (2008-2012), Postdoc Nr. 1904 (2014-2016)
- Expeditions: Namib Desert (2009-2010), Atacama Desert (2023), Brazilian Atlantic Forest studies
Her interdisciplinary work bridges plant biology with engineering applications, particularly in water conservation technologies and material science innovations derived from natural systems.
