Prof. Dr. Carla Cederbaum is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Tübingen, affiliated with the Department of Mathematics within the Faculty of Science (Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultät). Her research focuses on Mathematical General Relativity, Geometric Analysis, and Differential Geometry, with notable contributions to photon surfaces, black hole uniqueness, static spacetimes, and geometric inequalities. She leads research initiatives and organizes international workshops such as the Analysis and Geometry in Ländle (AnGeL) seminar and interdisciplinary meetings on General Relativity.
Her academic journey includes a thesis on geometrostatic systems and collaborations with leading figures like Prof. Dr. Gerhard Huisken. She actively engages in science communication through outreach programs, including the mathematics game Ganita, exhibitions like Women in Mathematics, and public lectures. She has co-edited publications like Snapshots of modern mathematics from Oberwolfach and contributed to accessible works such as How to Unmask a Chocolate Thief.
Prof. Cederbaum advises multiple PhD and master’s students, including Albachiara Cogo, Ariadna Léon Quirós, and others. Her work bridges theoretical physics and geometry, addressing foundational questions in spacetime structure and relativistic mass concepts. She also emphasizes education innovation, developing hands-on teaching methods for geometry and promoting women in STEM through mentorship programs.
