معرفی
Prof. Alfons Renz is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Evolution and Ecology, University of Tübingen, focusing on parasitology, vector biology, and epidemiology of filarial diseases. His work bridges comparative zoology and molecular research, supported by collaborations with institutions in Cameroon, Germany, and beyond. Key projects include the Program Onchocercoses field laboratory in Ngaoundéré and the Parasitology Group.
Research Interests: Dr. Renz’s research spans filarial parasites (Onchocerca, Wolbachia), vector control (blackflies, ticks, mosquitoes), and genetic markers of disease resistance in cattle. He investigates host-parasite-vector interactions through ecological and evolutionary frameworks, emphasizing disease prevention and zoonotic implications.
Recent Publications: His recent work (2025–2020) explores molecular taxonomy of blackflies, tick-borne pathogens, and genetic resistance in cattle. Articles highlight vector control strategies, molecular phylogeny of filarial species, and the role of adaptive immunity in parasitic infections.
Awards & Grants: No specific awards are listed, but he has secured continuous funding from DFG, WHO/TDR, CEC, and the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship Plus (since 2015), training students in parasitology and public health.
Projects & Collaborations: Dr. Renz has led projects on onchocerciasis eradication (since 2013), vectorial capacity analysis (1987), and macrofilaricidal drug development (1995–2008). He collaborates with the River Blindness Project, MPI Tübingen, and institutions in Cameroon and Nigeria.
