Achille Eric Paguem is a PhD researcher at the University of Tübingen's Faculty of Science, affiliated with the Comparative Zoology Group and the AG Parasitology department. His research focuses on vector-borne parasites (black flies, tsetse flies, ticks), their pathogens (Trypanosomes, Nematodes), and bovine host interactions in African ecosystems. He employs molecular genetics and next-generation sequencing to study parasite epidemiology and improve cattle genetic diversity in Cameroon.
Education:
- PhD in Animal Genetics and Genomics (2012–present), University of Ngaoundéré, supervised by Prof. D. Achukwi, Prof. D. Ndjonka, and Dr. A. Renz
- Master's in Animal Biology and Physiology (2009–2011), First Class Honours
- Bachelor's in Animal Biology and Physiology (2005–2009)
His work integrates molecular tools to address co-infections, genetic diversity in cattle, and parasite-host dynamics. Current projects include studies on Onchocerca ochengi immunology, Trypanosome species identification, and trichostrongylid infestations in Cameroon.
Awards: DFG funding, Otto-Bayer Fellowship, IFS Grant, and RISK Grant from the University of Tübingen.
Labs/Teams: Part of the AG Parasitology lab at Tübingen and collaborates with IRAD (Institute of Agricultural Research, Cameroon). His research contributes to global efforts in tropical veterinary medicine and biodiversity conservation.
