Dr. Tasha Tropp Laman is an Associate Professor in Early Childhood Education at Western Washington University, based in the Bremerton Office. Her research focuses on literacy learning among elementary-aged English Learners and multilingual children, emphasizing culturally sustaining practices. She authored From Ideas to Words: Writing Strategies for English Language Learners (2013) and has published over 30 articles and chapters in journals such as The Reading Teacher and Research in the Teaching of English. Her recent work examines culturally responsive teaching practices through a National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) grant.
Dr. Tropp Laman supports educators via professional development programs and teaches in the Bremerton ECE P-3rd grade endorsement program. She serves on the Elementary Section Steering Committee for NCTE and previously worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Belize. Her service includes receiving the 2019 Service Award from Languages and Literacies for All.
