Dr. Kelly Kingsley serves as Professor of Education at Peru State College's School of Education in Peru, Nebraska, teaching undergraduate elementary education and graduate courses since joining in 2014. Her 26-year K-12 career in Bellevue Public Schools included teaching grades 2-6 with primary focus on 3rd grade, alongside leadership roles as Team Leader, Instructional Technology Coach, and Literacy Facilitator.
Her academic credentials include:
- B.A. in Elementary Education (minor: Art) from Kearney State College (1987)
- M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College (1998)
- Ed.D. in Teaching, Curriculum and Learning from University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2012)
Dr. Kingsley's research centers on elementary literacy development, particularly word work strategies for young learners. Her professional work extends to curriculum design through Nebraska State Literacy Association and International Literacy Association memberships, where she contributes to reading language arts frameworks and writing instruction standards.
She actively serves the academic community as Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society counselor and Peru State College committee member. Her outreach includes preschool volunteering, elementary student reading sessions, and children's book authorship/illustration reflecting her educational expertise.
