Professor Taryn Jones serves as Macquarie University’s inaugural Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), leading educational strategy and policy to enhance academic excellence, student access, and graduate outcomes. Previously, she held roles in the Faculty of Medicine, Health & Human Sciences, including Associate Dean and Director of the Doctor of Physiotherapy program. Her expertise lies in educational leadership, regulatory compliance (e.g., TEQSA re-registration), curriculum reform, and technology-driven student support systems. Taryn’s research focuses on health professions education, physiotherapy training, and STEM equity for underrepresented groups.
Education Background: Prior to academia, she worked as a senior clinician in NSW Health and private sectors. She is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and former Council of Physiotherapy Deans of Australia and New Zealand (CPDANZ) member (2017–2022).
Research Interests: Taryn’s work addresses educational innovations in health professions, including curriculum design, work readiness, and clinical placement quality. She also explores chronic disease management, physical activity promotion, and barriers to STEM participation for women. Current projects include enhancing STEM access for equity groups (G2G grant) and redesigning Macquarie’s curriculum architecture centered on student wellbeing.
