Tariq Enver serves as a Professor in the Division of Molecular Medicine and Gene Therapy at Lund University's Faculty of Medicine. His research focuses on hematopoietic stem cell biology, leukemia pathogenesis, and molecular mechanisms of blood cell development, with significant contributions to understanding RUNX1 and ETV6 transcription factors in normal and malignant hematopoiesis.
Professor Enver's research interests center on hematopoietic stem cell dynamics, gene regulatory networks in leukemia, and molecular mechanisms of blood cell development. His work investigates the role of transcription factors in hematopoiesis, metabolic regulation during endothelial-to-hematopoietic transition, and chromatin landscape alterations in leukemic transformation. The fingerprint analysis of his work shows strong emphasis on Hematopoietic Stem Cells (100%), Hematopoiesis (64%), RUNX1 (57%), and Gene regulation (51%).
His recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory toward translational applications, with increasing focus on identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and understanding chemotherapy resistance mechanisms. The research spans from fundamental stem cell biology to clinical applications, with several publications in high-impact journals including Nature Communications and Nature Cell Biology.
Professor Enver currently leads two major research projects funded through 2027: one focused on identifying chemotherapy-resistant cells in adult B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Cancerfonden) and another on predictive modeling of clonal evolution in childhood leukemia (Swedish Research Council). These projects reflect his commitment to bridging basic research with clinical cancer treatment strategies.
