Tarez Samra Graban is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Florida State University (FSU), serving as Director of Rhetoric & Composition and a Teaching Scholar in the Honors Program. Her academic affiliations include roles in FSU’s Faculty Senate Steering Committee, the Honors Program Policy Committee, and leadership in initiatives like the Linked Women Pedagogues Project. She holds a PhD in English from Purdue University (2006) and an A.B. in English and Religious Studies from Brown University (1993).
Her research focuses on global and transnational rhetorics, feminist methodologies in archival studies, and digital humanities. Key interests include decolonizing archives, transnational feminist rhetorics, and the intersection of rhetoric with human rights and environmental concerns. She has led projects such as the Digital Scholars / DH Reading Group (2013–2020) and the Demos Project for Studies in the Data Humanities (2018–2021).
Grants and awards include an NEH Fellowship (2025), NEH Summer Stipend (2024), and the CWPA Best Book Award (2014). Her edited works span global rhetorical traditions, archival pedagogies, and feminist historiography. She advises and mentors students in rhetorical theory, global rhetorics, and archival practices, fostering civic engagement through critical literacy.
Her current research traces women leaders in southern African archives (1915–2015), emphasizing underrepresented voices and decolonial frameworks. She oversees interdisciplinary collaborations, including the Linked Women Pedagogues Project, which highlights marginalized women’s intellectual contributions.
