Dr. Tarangini Sriraman is a Wellcome Trust-funded Early Career Research Fellow in the Department of History at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research bridges social and medical history, focusing on caste, gender, and colonial/postcolonial dynamics in South Asia. She holds a PhD from the University of Delhi (2014) and teaches courses on cultural modernity, medical humanities, and Indian politics.
Her monograph In Pursuit of Proof: A History of Identification Documents in India examines bureaucratic systems and marginalized communities' experiences with paperwork in Delhi. Recent work includes studies on alcohol regulation in colonial Madras, migrant labor during the 2020 pandemic lockdown, and digital archiving practices.
Her research has been supported by prestigious grants including the Wellcome Early Career Fellowship (2022) and Charles Wallace Grant (2019). She has published in leading journals like Medical History and Contributions to Indian Sociology, alongside public-facing articles in The Wire and The Print.
