Dr. Tara Mayer is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice under the Faculty of Arts at the University of British Columbia. Her scholarship bridges colonial South Asian history with critical visual literacy, examining material and aesthetic exchanges between Europe and Asia, and challenging historical pedagogies through social justice frameworks.
- Recipient of the Killam Teaching Prize (2019), Wall Scholar (2019/20), and Peter Wall Residency in Innovative Pedagogy (2020/21).
- Collaborates with the Museum of Vancouver and serves as a Research Associate at the Museum of Anthropology (MOA).

Dr. Mayer’s work focuses on:
