Tara Friedman is an Assistant Teaching Professor of English and Director of the Writing Center at Widener University. She holds an MA in American Literature from Salisbury University (2008) and a BA in English and Education from Wilkes University (2006), and is currently ABD in her PhD studies. Her research focuses on resilience in youth, environmental literature, 20th-21st century American fiction, speculative fiction by women writers, humor studies, and writing center pedagogy. She employs a student-centered approach emphasizing active engagement and collaborative learning.
Her recent publications analyze themes such as environmental crisis in Kathryn Savage’s work, grief and reclamation in Akwaeke Emezi’s narratives, feminist themes in Bisi Adjapon’s speculative fiction, and social justice in Christy Lefteri’s Songbirds. Though no formal awards are listed, her academic affiliations include the American Humor Studies Association. Her professional role at the Writing Center involves supporting student writing development through innovative pedagogical strategies. She is engaged in interdisciplinary research bridging environmental humanities and postcolonial studies.
