معرفی
Associate Professor Tapio Simula is affiliated with the School of Science, Computing and Emerging Technologies at Swinburne University of Technology. He holds a D.Sc. (Tech.) in Physics from Helsinki University of Technology (2003), followed by postdoctoral roles in New Zealand, Denmark, and Japan. Since 2010, he has been in Australia as a Monash Research Fellow and became an ARC Future Fellow in 2019.
His research focuses on quantum technologies, including ultracold atoms, Bose-Einstein condensates, superfluidity, and topological quantum computation. He explores quantum turbulence, quantised vortices, and Floquet-driven systems breaking time-translation symmetry. His work intersects with analogue gravity and classical physics.
Teaching spans all undergraduate levels and Honours, including courses like Quantum Mechanics and Solid State Physics. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching to support pedagogical excellence.
Tapio has secured grants from the ARC and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, funding projects on superfluid vortices, topological reaction dynamics, and quantum turbulence. He supervises PhD candidates researching vortex thermodynamics and topological quantum computation.
He is a member of the American Physical Society (APS) and Australian Institute of Physics, recognized with the APS Outstanding Referee award (2017).
