Tanzil Shafique

Tanzil Shafique is a Lecturer in Urban Design and Director of Postgraduate (Taught) Programmes at the University of Sheffield School of Architecture and Landscape. He holds a PhD in Urban Design and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

His research focuses on southern urbanism, pluriversal architectural practice, and informal planning, particularly examining climate change adaptation led by local citizens. Key projects include socio-spatial sanitation analysis, urban morphogenesis studies, and decolonial urban knowledge production.

Recent publications span themes like informal settlement mapping, assemblage theory applications, and climate justice, with 15 most recent articles reflecting his expertise in informal urbanism, global South studies, and critical design pedagogy.
