Gonzalo Lizarralde is a Professor at the Faculty of Environmental Design, Université de Montréal, specializing in disaster risk reduction, post-disaster reconstruction, urban informality, and climate change adaptation. He leads the international research network i-Rec and directs GRIF (Groupe de recherche IF) and Œuvre Durable observatory. His work bridges architecture, urban planning, and social sciences, focusing on marginalized communities in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
