معرفی
Tanya Dimova is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Biology and Immunology of Reproduction, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with concurrent part-time lecturing roles in Embryology and Cytology at New Bulgarian University and the University of Forestry through the 2023-2024 academic year.
Education:
- PhD in Immunology (2008), Institute of Biology and Immunology of Reproduction, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
- Master of Veterinary Medicine (1991), Trakia University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
Research Focus: Dr. Dimova pioneers work in reproductive immunology, investigating maternal-fetal immune tolerance mechanisms, γδ T-cell dynamics during pregnancy, and inflammatory processes in embryo implantation. Her lab develops 3D trophoblast models to simulate maternal-fetal interactions and studies the placentobiome's role in pregnancy outcomes, utilizing advanced techniques like laser capture microdissection and TCR sequencing.
Scientific Recognition:
- Fulbright Scholarship (2018) for 3D implantation modeling at Yale University
- Swedish Institute Research Fellowship (2006)
- Norrland Cancer Foundation Grant (2005)
Academic Leadership: As principal investigator for Bulgaria's KP-06-DV-3 VIHREN project (2019-2024), she secured 1,000,000 Leva to develop organotypic models of embryo-maternal immune crosstalk. She has mentored seven graduate students, including Diana Manchorova (PhD thesis on γδ T-cell cytotoxicity) and Mariela Ivanova (Master's research on 3D trophoblast models for impaired implantation).
Technical Expertise: Her laboratory specializes in flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, human trophoblast cell isolation, and 3D placental modeling, with proficiency in molecular techniques including RT-PCR and TCR spectratyping.
