Tanya Custer

Dr. Tanya Custer is an Associate Professor and Director of Distance Education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s (UNMC) College of Allied Health Professions. She also serves as Director of the UNMC Interprofessional Academy of Educators. Her expertise lies in distance education, having led three online programs: Master of Health Professions Teaching & Technology, Master of Healthcare Delivery Science, and the BSMITS Degree Advancement Option. She holds a PhD in Health Practice & Medical Education Research (UNMC, 2024) and an MS in Leadership Education with a focus on distance education (UNL, 2009).

Her research emphasizes online learning, mindfulness in education, and student-centered methodologies. She contributes to peer-reviewed journals such as Online Learning and Radiologic Technology, and serves on the editorial board of the Radiation Therapist Journal. Active in professional organizations like the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), she advocates for interprofessional education and curriculum innovation.
