Tanja Porčnik is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Hamburg. She holds a D.Sc. in Humanities and Social Sciences from the University of Ljubljana, an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Ljubljana, and a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Maribor. Her research focuses on Jurisprudence, Comparative Law, and the Economic Analysis of Public Law.
Current research projects include collaboration with Dr. Paolo Sandro (University of Leeds) on "Extra-legal Constitutionalism" (2025–2026) and "The Study and Measurement of Constitutionalism" (2022–2025). She has taught courses such as Constitutionalism, Comparative Legal Institutions, Multi-Dimensional Indices, and Economic Analysis of Constitutions within the European Master in Law & Economics (EMLE) program.
Funded through the University of Hamburg’s Excellence Strategy Postdoctoral Fellowship program, her work bridges legal theory with economic methodologies. Teaching responsibilities span both German and international legal frameworks, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to constitutional and public law analysis.
