Dr. Paolo Sandro is an Associate Professor of Public Law and Legal Theory at the University of Leeds' School of Law, part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. He joined Leeds in 2021 after roles at the University of Salford and Liverpool Hope University. His expertise spans jurisprudence, constitutional law, administrative law, and political theory. Sandro holds dual PhDs in Legal Theory (Edinburgh) and Public Law (Roma Tre University), alongside extensive teaching and research experience.
His research focuses on constitutional democracy, legal theory, and the intersection of law with philosophy of language/action. His monograph The Making of Constitutional Democracy (2022) integrates interdisciplinary insights and has been widely reviewed. Sandro is a Michael Beverley Innovation Fellow (2023–24) and a longstanding Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
He contributes to debates on UK constitutional reform, devolution, and legal accountability via posts on the UK Constitutional Law Association blog and outlets like Verfassungsblog. Current research includes projects on soft law in domestic administrative law and the implications of constitutional entrenchment mechanisms.
