Tanja Mueller is a Lecturer at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde. She holds external roles as a Visiting Lecturer in Pharmacoepidemiology and Health Services Research at NHS Lanarkshire and an Honorary appointment at Public Health Scotland. Her research focuses on rational drug use, particularly pharmacoepidemiology and drug utilization, with expertise in antimicrobial stewardship, cancer drugs, cardiovascular disease, and electronic record linkage. She teaches across MPharm and MSc Clinical Pharmacy programs, emphasizing research methods, data analysis, and communication skills.
Education includes a Master of Public Health from Lund University (2012–2014), a PhD from the University of Strathclyde (2014–2017), and additional degrees from Malmö University and Europaische Fernhochschule Hamburg. She has supervised students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including MPhil, PhD, and MSc Clinical Pharmacy candidates.
Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals in public health. Key projects include the Cancer Medicines Outcomes Programme and studies on medicines use in pregnancy. Awards include the Aurora Women's Leadership Fellowship (2021) and a Best Poster Award for cardiovascular research (2017). She actively engages in peer review, conference participation, and policy-related activities.
