Tanja Hoffmann

Dr. Tanja Hoffmann is a Leverhulme Research Fellow in Archaeology at the University of York, leading Axis 1 of the Heritage for Global Challenges Research Centre. Her work focuses on Indigenous heritage, climate change resilience, and decolonial methodologies. She holds a PhD from Simon Fraser University and an MA from the University of Northern British Columbia.

She collaborates with organizations like Historic England and Malambo Grassroots to advance place-based solutions to global challenges.

Dr. Hoffmann currently supervises PhD candidates Fran Mahone and Melissa Thomas. She advocates for research that prioritizes community-driven heritage practices and reciprocal relationships with Indigenous knowledge holders.
