Farid Rahemtulla

Dr. Farid Rahemtulla is a Senior Lecturer in Anthropology at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), affiliated with the Faculty of Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences and Humanities. He holds a PhD and MA from Simon Fraser University, an MA from the University of Toronto, and a BA from the University of Alberta.

His research focuses on archaeology, ancient technologies, and community-engaged research, particularly in British Columbia and Eastern Africa. He directs the Archaeology Field School, a program providing training to students and Indigenous community members in cultural resource management. His work emphasizes Indigenous history and collaborative methodologies.

Recent research highlights include studies on rock art pigment materiality, bone artifact analysis, and community-driven archaeological education. His field school has become a key pathway for students entering archaeological careers.
