Dr Tania Lisboa is a Research Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Royal College of Music (RCM), where she holds a dual appointment as a Reader in Performance Science and Digital Learning. She also serves as an honorary Research Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. Her research spans expert musical practice, memory in performance, digital learning innovations, and music's role in health and Special Educational Needs/Disability (SEND). She has led impactful projects such as the ZikMus initiative addressing Zika virus-affected families through music and the Arts in the City project exploring music's urban impact.
Dr Lisboa's career combines academic research with a distinguished solo cello performance career, performing internationally with recordings on Meridian Records. She supervises doctoral students in areas like neurodiversity in music education and has managed the RCM’s videoconferencing programs since 2003, fostering global conservatoire collaborations. Recognized with an Honorary Membership of the RCM (2018), her work appears in leading journals like Music & Science and Psychology of Music. She co-edits the International Symposium on Performance Science and contributes to initiatives like the Healthy Conservatoires Network promoting musician well-being.
