Tandis Bidgoli

Dr. Tandis Bidgoli is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). He holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Kansas (2014), an M.S. in Geoscience from University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2005), and a B.S. in Geoscience from San Francisco State University (2002). Prior to CSUSB, he held faculty positions at the University of Missouri (2018–2022) and was a research scientist at the Kansas Geological Survey (2014–2018).

Research Focus: Dr. Bidgoli specializes in structural geology, tectonics, and low-temperature thermochronology. His work integrates field studies with geochronology to understand deformation mechanisms and landscape evolution in regions such as the Basin and Range Province (Nevada/California), offshore basins in China (e.g., Pearl River Mouth, Bohai Bay), and the U.S. midcontinent (Kansas/Oklahoma). He emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to unravel spatiotemporal strain patterns and their geodynamic drivers.

Teaching & Mentoring: Committed to education, he mentors undergraduate and graduate students in research, particularly in fieldwork and lab techniques. He actively involves students in projects spanning tectonic analysis, sediment provenance, and basin evolution.

Grants & Collaboration: His research has been supported by collaborative projects with institutions in China and the U.S., focusing on basin analysis and tectonic processes. He has contributed to high-impact studies on induced seismicity and fluid pressures in midcontinent reservoirs.

Labs & Facilities: Utilizes state-of-the-art facilities for detrital zircon analysis, thermochronometry, and structural geology at CSUSB and partner institutions. Engaged in field-based research in remote geological settings.
