Dr Tan Chow Wei is a Senior Lecturer at the Clinical School Johor Bahru within Monash University Malaysia's Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, holding this fractional academic position since the school's establishment in 2007. He specializes in family medicine and general practice while maintaining active roles as Senior Advisor and Director of Asia Medevac Services and medical advisor to multiple NGOs.

He pioneered Malaysia's first private medical evacuation service through Asia Medevac Services, conducting 1000+ global evacuations since 2010, and led a self-funded disaster relief team during the 2004 Asian Tsunami.
His current external appointments include Trustee of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (2020-present), Board of Visitors for KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital (appointed by Ministry of Health since 2011), and ongoing medical advisory roles for NGOs including Agape Counselling Centre Malaysia.
