Tammar Zilber

Tammar Zilber is a Part-time Professor of Organization at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and a full Professor of Organization Theory at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She currently serves as co-Editor-in-Chief of Organization Studies (since September 2023) and previously held an Associate Editor role at the Academy of Management Journal. Her academic work centers on institutional dynamics and qualitative methodologies across organizational contexts.

Her research investigates how individuals and organizations co-construct shared realities through institutional theory, examining social meanings like feminism, modernism, and capitalism. She specializes in microfoundations of institutional dynamics and employs ethnography, narrative, and discourse analysis across individual, organizational, field, and societal levels. Her methodological rigor emphasizes reflexive qualitative approaches and coherence between cognitive, political, and emotional elements in institutional change.

Recent publications (2024-2025) address institutional logics in generative AI, crisis theorizing, and place navigation in organizational contexts. Her work appears in top-tier journals including Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Studies, and Academy of Management Journal, with recurring themes of power dynamics, narrative coherence, and methodological innovation in qualitative research.

She contributes to the Center for Organizational Research on Impact (CORI) at CBS and has authored influential books including Narrative Research: Reading, Analysis, and Interpretation (Sage) and Peace Entrepreneurs and Social Entrepreneurship (Edward Elgar). Her editorial leadership shapes discourse in organizational scholarship while her teaching focuses on PhD-level organizational analysis and research methodology.
