Tamirace Fakhoury

Tamirace Fakhoury is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University’s Department of Politics and Society, affiliated with The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. She is part of the Global Refugee Studies (GRS) and MIX - Center for Displacement, Migration and Integration research groups. Her research focuses on refugee governance, EU migration policies, Middle Eastern politics, and the intersection of power-sharing systems with sectarianism and queer activism. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Freiburg.

Key projects include investigating political timekeeping in Lebanon, urban marginality and incarceration linkages, and comparative displacement responses between Syrian and Ukrainian crises. Her work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and social justice.

Research interests center on refugee norms, EU external policies, and Middle East political dynamics. Her recent articles analyze authoritarian regime strategies, refugee policy pluralism, and Lebanon's governance challenges. Fakhoury has contributed to policy dialogues through UN engagements and media commentary on Lebanon’s political crises and refugee challenges.
