Dr. Tami Gadir is a Lecturer in the Music Industry at RMIT University, affiliated with the School of Media & Communication. With a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, her work focuses on the intersections of music with labor, technology, media, and politics. She teaches the core first-year course PERF2064 'Music: Performance and Production' in the Bachelor of Arts (Music Industry) program.
Her research interests include the sociopolitical dimensions of music, particularly gender dynamics in music production, digital music cultures, and historical analysis of music scenes. She actively supervises research projects on topics like post-rave genealogies, gendered expectations in rock music, and the role of Triple M Radio in perpetuating 'dad rock' culture.
Dr. Gadir collaborates with the Music Industry Research Collective (MIRC) and has authored books such as Dance Music: A Feminist Account of an Ordinary Culture. She is currently on extended leave based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, accessible via her website contact form.
